On a recent trip to Ohau as I do on most vacations, I seek out all things soap related :-) I try to immerse myself in local culture to learn more about the place I'm visiting outside of tourism. I found so many hidden and not-so-hidden gems during my time in beautiful Hawaii. Everywhere I went locals spoke of the Kukui Nut, its oil, properties, and benefits. Well, I just had. to try it for myself! I absolutely love it and because of that, I have incorporated it into my summer and fall soaps. Look out for them on the website! Mahalo
The kukui nut tree, or the candlenut tree, bears nutty fruits that can be roasted and squeezed to release its oil, which Hawaiians have been doing since they first settled on the island nearly 2,500 years ago. The oil has been used in religious rituals, candlemaking, and more recently, in massage oil and skincare products. It is applied topically and is absorbed into the hair and skin to produce a wide variety of benefits.
According to locals it's known to:
Strengthen Hair
Helps Accelerate Wound Healing
Reduces Wrinkles
Works for Pain Relief
Boosts Immune System
Soothes Eczema
Reduces Inflammation
Moisturizes Skin
